Things you Should NEVER do while traveling abroad

Everyone is always talking about how to get ready for traveling, what to pack, best places to visit, etc. However, no one is really talking about the things you should never do while traveling abroad. That is the reason why today, we will reveal these main things to keep in mind not to do when going to a new country, as they can get you in trouble!

NEVER Disrespect the Culture

One of the main reasons why we all love traveling is because we want to have a close experience of another place’s culture. Being fair, it is very common that you can end up in a country and you can be facing traditions and customs that are completely different from what yours are. Always take everything with an open mind and heart, though, and NEVER disrespect the culture!

NEVER Drink Tap Water

You might be surprised by this one, but you really should be never drinking tap water when visiting another country. Yes, there are places where tap water is extremely safe and clean, however, at most places around the Earth, unfortunately, it is not. Also keep in mind that you should not be judging by the locals. They might have already gotten used to the specific bacteria that is in the water, while you that have never been exposed to it, might end up having food poisoning. Just grab a bottle of mineral water from the store and you will be good!

NEVER Overuse Alcohol

Especially if you are on a solo trip! It is completely normal to want to try the local beer or wine, however, you really need to be careful and know your limits. Do not overuse alcohol as this can lead to other unforeseen circumstances, such as being robbed or ending up in a fight. Something to also have in mind, is that drinking alcohol in public is forbidden in some countries. Make sure that you check the country’s regulations before you grab a beer and head to the nearby park!

NEVER Exchange Money at the Airport

When going abroad one of the main things you should be careful about is the exchange currency rate. It is best to keep an eye on the exchange rate a week or two before you leave. If it is fluctuating a lot, try finding the best day and exchange some money, while still being in your home country. Never be tempted to exchange money at the airport, as they often have the worst currency rates. It is always a good idea to have both cash and card when traveling. Do not forget that at some places you might not be able to pay with anything else except cash in the local currency.

NEVER Leave your Luggage Unattended

We believe that never leaving your luggage unattended is common sense, but even still there are often times when people end up being robbed exactly because of this. Having your documents and money with you at all times is absolutely crucial. Additionally, always be careful if you have decided to leave your luggage and to ask someone to have a look at it while you are going to grab a coffee, or need to use the restroom. It is best to take all of your baggage with you, it might be a hassle, but it can certainly save you a lot of troubles!

What are the other things you should NEVER do while traveling abroad? What are your suggestions? Have you been in a situation when a fantastic trip turned out horrible, because of something that you did not pay attention to and you should have not done?
