Unique Brazilian Destination – Iguazu Falls Travel Guide

For lovers of water and extraordinary nature, the Iguazu Falls are a must-see destination. Straddling the borders of Argentina and Brazil, the Iguazu falls are a system of 275 waterfalls that cascade into the Iguazu River. Together, they make up the most extensive waterfall system in the world.

Viewing this spectacle is like witnessing two sides of the Earth colliding together. You will feel like you’re stepping into a scene from a movie when you visit the Iguazu Falls. The Iguazu Falls have been featured in Marvel movies, such as Black Panther and Captain America: Civil War. They didn’t need to use the CGI budget for those scenes!

Which Country to Visit

You can view the falls from either Iguazu State Park in Brazil or Iguazu State Park in Argentina when planning your trip. Both offer fantastic views of the falls. You’ll be able to get close to the action on viewing platforms where you can take pictures that will make your friends wish they were there.

Argentina or Brazil?

Deciding whether to stay in Argentina or Brazil depends on the viewing experience you’re looking for. Both are great options, but they offer different benefits. Since most of the Iguazu falls are located on the Argentinian side of the river, the Brazilian viewpoint will allow you to see more of the Iguazu Falls. The Brazilian side also offers a quieter, more residential staying experience. However, if you want a more high-energy and touristy location, staying on the Argentinian side might be your best option. Argentina’s side of the Iguazu Falls has activities like a jungle safari and tours of the many picturesque places in the area. Each location could be best for you, depending on the type of traveller you are.

Place with less tourist trap

If you think this is just another tourist trap destination that will leave you disappointed, wishing you had simply taken an excursion to your local park, you couldn’t be more wrong. Seeing the Iguazu Falls in person is a once-in-a-lifetime sight. Niagara Falls pales compared to the Iguazu Falls at only half the height and one third the width.

Planning Your Trip

While you can visit Iguazu Falls all year round, it’s best to see when it’s not peak season. You will be able to navigate the area better without the cluster of massive crowds. Visiting from July to October and February to April is the best time to visit Iguazu Falls because of the mild weather and the low number of tourists.

For packing, make sure you bring extra clothes, and a towel – the Iguazu Falls spray a constant mist on their spectators. And don’t forget the sunscreen!

Hotel options

Whether you’re staying in Argentina or Brazil, there will be plenty of hotel options and dining for every type of spectator. Some of our favorites are the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas in Brazil and the Sheraton Iguazu Resort & Spa in Argentina. Both of these classy, luxurious hotels offer authentic, comfortable experiences, with some of the best views of the Iguazu Falls.
